The Hunger Games Book Review

Im sure everyone has heard the hype about the new film trilogy The Hunger Games which the first installment is set to be released in March 2012. As I read all 3 books in the space of 12 days (ridiculous i know!) being excited is abit of an understatement!

The Hunger Games is a young adult novel written by Suzanne Collins. It is written in first person and introduces sixteen-year-old Katniss Everdeen, who lives in a post-apocalyptic world in the country of Panem where the countries of North America once existed. The Capitol, a highly advanced metropolis, holds absolute power over the rest of the nation. The Hunger Games are an annual event in which one boy and one girl aged 12 to 18 from each of the 12 districts surrounding the Capitol are selected by lottery to compete in a televised battle in which only one person can survive. A film adaptation, written and produced by Collins herself and directed by Gary Ross, will be released March 23, 2012 in the United States. The film stars Jennifer Lawrence as Katniss, Josh Hutcherson as Peeta, and Liam Hemsworth as Gale.

Alot of people have compared the trilogy to Twilight. Personally I don't see the comparison. Yes there maybe a love story involved in both novels but the Hunger Games is a completely different novel. Being a huge fan of Twilight series also I hope that the new film is not similar I want to see something different!

Suzanne Collins the author of the Hunger Games is a genius! I cant wait to see how she translated her story onto the screen. READ THE BOOKS! You will not be disappointed! Highly recommended.
