A Wedding Planners Engagement Story

Firstly congrats on your engagement! I fully understand your excitement as I too got engaged recently. I have always said that I am always the wedding planner, never the bride....but not anymore. After years of putting plans in place and executing other people's big day, it is finally my turn to plan the wedding of my dreams! So for the first post of my new blog I wanted to share our engagement story with you. So here goes....

My Engagement Story

Me and my partner, Stephen flew out to the sunny Greek island of Rhodes on the 1st of June 2018 and spent the next 8 days lounge in the sun, drinking wine and eating lots of food! On Saturday the 8th June, I was feeling a little under the weather....typical whilst on your one and only holiday for the year. But I didn't want that to hinder us exploring the island so off we went for an evening in the Old Town. After a few hours exploring we arrived back at our hotel.

Entering back into our hotel room, me entering first, I found that it was completely dark and none of the light switches were working! My partner, Stephen, noticed the card wasn't in the light slot properly. Soon the room was lit and I was shocked to see our room completely transformed! I stopped in my tracks and immediately thought there had been a mistake, rose petals on the bed and champagne on ice. Surely I was in the wrong room. I said to Stephen 'what is going on?' without turning to him, he replied 'this is all for you'. I turned to find him on one knee with a ring in his hand.

The rest is history as they say....

Of course I said yes, myself and Stephen got together around 8 and a half years ago, shortly after my 18th birthday. So as you can imagine we were inundated with questions throughout our relationship...mostly at family occasions with 'when are you two getting married?' Well, now we can say in the very near future!

Stephen opted to by a small proposal ring in order to 'pop the question' as they say and said he would like for us to go and pick the engagement ring together when we return from our holiday. Luckily he proposed almost at the end of our stay so I didn't have to wait long. Although a very surreal experience, ring shopping was obviously fantastic! I found my ring at the first jewellers we went to and of course I instantly fell in love.

Together we chose a beautiful Neil Lane halo diamond cluster ring which features a very intricate craving detail on the outside of the wedding band. See the pictures below to check out the detailing.

Thank you Neil Lane for designing such a fabulous engagement ring, I also cannot thank the hotel in Greece enough for assisting Stephen in a very romantic and personal proposal! Anyone looking to surprise their other half with a proposal, or simply looking for a fantastic holiday, I would not hesitate in recommending the Atrium Platinum in Rhodes, Ixia, the service at this hotel is second to none!

Look out for my next post about the rise of the 'engagement photo-shoots'
